POH SPIRITS SOURDOIS 1986 51%
Back to Baco
Another 80s armagnac, but this time from the Bas-Armagnac area. 100% Baco, bottled in 2024. 51%. Let’s go!
Colour: Mahogany, red lights. Heavy irregular tears.
Nose: Dominated by coffee shades at first. Hints of kirsch and dried fruits, mainly raisins, leading towards old Tawny Port notes. Strong wood influence in the background, with liquid caramel and light oxidative warmth.
Palate: Unexpectedly exotic and vibrant. Mouthwatering mango juice and blackcurrant aromas meet prunes eau-de-vie. A refined pineau-style rancio brings fresh nutty shades. Deliciously acidulous structure, full-bodied yet balanced.
Last Notes: Fresh wood tones of eucalyptus and cigar box. Slightly dusty with air. Candied red fruits emerge, followed by round vanilla notes. Subtle camphor in the background and a pleasant aftertaste on gentian and anise.
A well-built, powerful Armagnac, striking a fine balance between oak-driven bitterness (anise, gentian) and fruity sweetness (mango, prunes). Behind its muscular structure lies undeniable finesse and aesthetic coherence. Good selection for sure!
My very subjective note: 88+/100
