VEUVE GOUDOULIN BAS-ARMAGNAC 1993 40%
Hints of Courrensan
Another Goudoulin here, but the first one from the 90s. Let’s see if we can get something nice with this 30yo bas-armagnac.
Colour: Orange with golden lights. Medium, irregular tears.
Nose: Pleasant nutty tones at first, followed by refined vanilla and orange zest. A touch of honey adds warmth. The structure feels balanced and approachable.
Palate: Fresh fruitiness on tinned pear and ripe peach. Warm spices – zan, star anise, and paprika – are bringing complexity. Nice mouth length with coconut powder and milk chocolate.
Last Notes: Becomes slightly oakier with air. Brand-new wood and linseed oil scents. Fruity shades on cooked plum, floral hints of lychee and jasmine. Round, spiced, and fruity overall.
A correct and well-made Bas-Armagnac, showing roundness and charm, but lacking a bit of precision and depth to stand out.
My very subjective note: 86/100
