POH SPIRITS PASQUET PETITE CHAMPAGNE LOT 85 52,3%
ECLETIC POH WOW DRAM
JL Pasquet and Petite Champagne. That’s something already seen on Hors d’Age, with some stunning cuvees. From the 80’s, I’ve got that one in mind, which was a true delight. So what can go wrong with this cognac selection by Poh Spirits?
Colour: Old gold, gold lights. Irregular heavy tears.
Nose: Strong rancioted notes at first. Heavy cigar/humidor aromas, with hints of coffee beans notes. Nice caramelized nutty scents then. Fresh honeyed tones. Elegant nose for sure.
Palate: Light texture, with a tad of acidity in the aftertaste. Surprinsly fresh than I expected with the nose. Full of energy and bright. Pear eau-de-vie aftertaste. A tad of creamy notes in the background, mainly on bourbon vanilla.
Last Notes: A tad armagnac-like with air, as you get a bit of rustic shades. Candied citrus notes melted to vivid fruity tones again. Fresh peppery notes on white pepper and cardamom. More ample palate with air. Generous buttery aromas and almond milk notes.
Nice profile with an unexpected evolution. Maybe a little lack of depth to reach 90. A comfy cognac with vivid oaky notes, like a pair of charentaises (blue JLP charentaises way above the others) with sharp woody soles.
My very subjective note: 88+/100
