MALTERNATIVE BELGIUM #26 MONSIEUR DOUTE VOYER LOT 77 48,7%
From Verrieres with Delight
Malternative Belgium x Voyer, that’s something you’ve already seen a few days ago. This time it’s a bit younger (45yo…) and you find a higher ABV, which is quite logical. Lot 77 and Voyer, let’s go!
Colour: Dark amber, orange lights. Irregular medium tears.
Nose: Full of tropical fruits scents at first. Hints of yeasty notes on fresh bread dough. Overriped banana/mango. A tad floral, but it remains mostly fruit-forward. Great evolution, minute by minute, as you get more and more spiced notes. Very promising nose.
Palate: Oily texture. Massive acidulous notes at first. Heavy blackcurrant juice aromas surrounded by fresh strawberry stew notes. Bang! Utterly delicious. Nice mouth length. Intense chocolate and roasted shades in the background, especially on dark chocolate and burnt thyme.
Last Notes: Clean cooked fruits notes, something like a mix of umeshu and quince liquor. You get a vivid rancio, kinda fresh with wet undergrowth scents and potpourri shades. And what about the palate? Jammy and acidulous aromas, with depth and complexity. That’s not a sharp kind of GC, and it’s very close to the funkiness you can find in the 1993 vintage from the same estate.
Easy winner. Everything is delivered with intensity. To be crystal clear: c’est très bon!
My very subjective note: 91+/100
