SWELL DE SPIRITS #8 WILD NATURE SERIES PRUNIER 52,9%
Vivid Grapes
An unusual blend from Prunier’s cellars and bottled by Swell de Spirits. 10% of 2012 Colombard (from Fins Bois), 25% of 2014 Folignan (from Petite Champagne), and 65% of 2011 Folle Blanche (from Fins Bois). An intriguing recipe made of various terroirs and grapes. Let’s go!
Colour: Gold, yellow lights. Irregular heavy tears.
Nose: Full of nutty notes at first. Fresh walnut, crushed almond. A bunch of young fruit notes, mainly on apricot and tinned pear. A bit waxy, reminding me of some aspects of the Grosperrin Cepages. Nice honeyed tones in the background.
Palate: Rich texture with a tad of spiced notes in the aftertaste. Hints of freshness, mainly on rosemary and fresh thyme. Easy profile, young and vivid. Almond paste aromas. Great mouth length.
Last Notes: A tad of malted shades with air. Slightly enhanced by fresh honey notes again. Pear tart. Typical young cognac fruitiness melted to a pleasant rustic side.
Rich, rustic, and fresh kind of cognac. Unconventional and very drinkable blend.
My very subjective note: 85+/100
