REMY MARTIN 1738 ACCORD ROYAL 40%

Copper lights for a golden score?

Let’s try one of the best sellers in Remy Martin’s range: the 1738 Accord Royal (around 4/10yo).

Colour: Brown, copper lights. Medium irregular tears.

Nose: Quite heady at first, especially on citruses (mainly tangerine). Then it’s acidic. Raisins for sure. Few unpleasant plastic scents.  Hints of pear and apple. It smells like cognac.

Palate: Light watery texture. A great dose of caramel sweets in the beginning. Then…nothing. A very acidic aftertaste. A little freshness in the background but it ends very quickly. Prunes cake in the background.

Last Notes: Shy peach syrup notes with more air. A lot of caramel again. Some vague notes of peach/plums jam. A bit of apple juice too. Caramel sweets on the palate. Quite acidic. Very sugary for sure.

This is one is made for cocktails I guess. In my humble opinion, that’s not a bad one but it’s way too sugary for me. A bit less convincing than the Hennessy VSOP.

My very subjective note: 74+/100
