MALTERNATIVE BELGIUM #30 LA DECOUVERTE FOUCHER LOT 77 FB 51,74%
Dark and Round
Foussignac, northern part of Fins Bois, close to Gondeville (GC). That’s where Marie Foucher estate is located. And that’s the first bottling out of 3 from this producer made by Malternative Belgium. Lot 77, 51,74%(!), FB. Let’s go!
Colour: Dark amber, orange lights. Irregular medium tears
Nose: Bright fruity notes at first. Pear juice, fresh tangerine scents. Warm spiced notes and a tad of oaky shades. Very round nose. You find strong pine wood notes, reminding me of some Bois Ordinaires profiles.
Palate: Thick texture. Great entrance on fresh grape juice and melon stew. Black pepper aftertaste. Nice concentration. Lingering oaky tones on linseed oil. Reasonnable wood influence, even if I prefer when it’s a bit lighter.
Last Notes: Full of candied citrus scents with air. It remains quite oaky. Very heady nose with this combination of orange peel notes and strong tannins. Gentle licorice aromas in the background.
Dark and round at the same time, this Fins Bois isn’t the easiest profile from this cru. Very atypical, full of energy and complex, I miss a bit of finesse and depth to score it above 89.
My very subjective note: 88+/100
