The best of both worlds

This third Confluences bottling is a blend of 90’s and 80’s G.C. It’s a very limited edition of 583 bottles with a 45,5% ABV. Let’s go!

Colour: Old gold, orange lights. Regular heavy tears.

Nose: Very fruity at first. Full of candied citruses. Mandarin, tangerine, orange peel marmalade. A tad of heady spiced notes on cloves and Sichuan pepper. Generous nose, with premises of a noble rancio. Perfect balance between fresh and fruity notes.

Palate: Oily texture. Stunning quince and tangerine jam aromas. Is it possible to be more drinkable than that? Still this candied citruses DNA, gently surrounded by honey notes. Nice nutty shades on crushed almonds and walnut oil. Great fruity mouth length on apricot juice.

Last Notes: A tad fresher with air, and you now get hints of mentholated scents. Sweet spiced notes of cinnamon and candied ginger. A little of bitter chocolate notes too. On the palate, it’s still a delicious mix of caramelized citruses (orange peel, tangerine) with a subtle mouth length on fresh fig and white pepper.

This third Confluences bottling follows its predecessors quality and the Pasquets prove again their ability to create a very relevant assemblage. With this Vieilles Grande Champagne, you find the punk side of a 30yo GC and the generous fruitiness of older cognacs at the same time. The best of both worlds. Brilliant work for sure.
