I tried a nice 20yo Fins Bois from Grosperrin 2 weeks ago, and I was quite impressed by its freshness and young rancioted shades. 28yo, 48,9% and a different origin. Let’s go!

Colour: Amber, orange lights. Heavy regular tears.

Nose: Bitter citruses notes. Strong oaky notes melted to cocoa powder scents. Butterscotch, toffee. Linseed oil scents in the background. A bit of warm spices. Quite imprecise and oaky nose. Maybe a bit of air will help this 28yo Fins Bois.

Palate: Oily aftertaste with a little dry aftertaste. Nice plum eau-de-vie notes at first. The usual suspects for a 20-30yo Bois: raisins, and cooked prunes. Bitter notes on brand-new wood and fresh lime juice. Lingering oakiness, following nose impressions.

Last Notes: Dark and oaky profile, remembering me of some rustic armagnacs. Hints of floral scents with rosewater notes in the background. Back on the palate, you find this typical fruitiness again. Full of raisins in the mouth length.

Lack of precision, excessive oak influence. Not the best Fins Bois I’ve ever tried. Not the worst either, as you can find a nice fruitiness through the massive oakiness. 

My very subjective note: 84+/100
