Casual Borderies

Colour : gold, very light tears

Nose : Dried grapes. Medium intensity. A full spoon of honey. A little of acidity. Tinned lemon. Anise. It goes rounder. Prunes, vanilla, white pepper. Young apricots. That’s a good start !

Palate : Sweet texture. The beginning is on freshness, particularly mint. It’s spicy too. Cloves, nutmeg. Dry chestnuts. Ample notes of marasquin cherries. A bit of frustration here. The sensation of a shy cognac. It seems to keep all its potential richness. Too bad. A little of fig jam in the aftertaste. 

Last Notes : Much better with the time you let it in your glass. The air brings very floral scents. It goes on jasmine, violet syrup and a dash of rose water. Then more spiciness, as a reminder of the nose.   A great dose of cinnamon. Almond paste. Cocoa powder. It gets more acidulous on apple syrup and dry plums. It ends on fig jam and pineapple syrup. I would say that there is a little lack of strength to enhance all the aromas.

However, this Grateaud Napoléon is truly a great example of a tasty young (8-15yo here) Borderies.
